Our district has a number of resources to support families during the summer months. These include online summer enrichment and learning resources, community assistance resources, and free summer meals. Learn more by visiting the Summer in Northshore webpage.
We are excited to offer free meals this summer to help children stay nourished and be ready for learning in the fall. Free meals will be available for pick up once a week at 23 locations across the District, starting July 1. To learn more and submit your order, visit the Summer Meals webpage.
During the COVID-19 outbreak, our community continues to come together to provide assistance to families and community members in need. This assistance includes childcare, employment, food, mental health support and other resources. To learn more about organizations that are offering support visit the Community Assistance webpage.
You can continue to enrich your student’s learning during the summer months. The Northshore Learns website provides resources for all grade levels that encourage creativity and project-focused learning to harness student’s natural curiosity and creativity. Access these fun and educational resources and activities by viewing the Home Learning Resources webpage, which will continue to be updated.
Research shows summer break away from school can cause students, especially struggling learners, to experience "summer slide" or some loss of what they've learned over the school year. We are launching a summer reading initiative to encourage students and parents to keep reading. Take a look, encourage your student, and be sure to share what your child is reading, no matter the grade level. To learn more visit the Summer Reading webpage.
Summer Activity Adventure
Students in all grades are encouraged to participate in a free Summer Activity Adventure, which provides fun ways to keep learning in the summer months! Some activities include cooking, going on a virtual field trip, creating a short play, or journaling. Each activity is worth a set number of points. Once students have earned enough points, they can submit a form to receive kudos from the District. After submitting a form, students can also learn more about how the Northshore Schools Foundation wants to celebrate and recognize a number of students and their summer learning with a fun surprise!
